WHATS “NORMAL”?
Recently I was sharing with an old acquaintance about dad's death and he reckoned that this was somehow normal for our family. He remembered our family from the beginning in Sarasota. He recalled how Joyce (first mom) suffered and then died two and a half years after moving here, how God placed Pat (second mom) into our grieving family and all the "FUN" times we had after that.
The way he put it was like this, "Your family has never had a normal life. It often seemed that you were barreling down life's road when one of the wheels of your cart would just fly off. I was always amazed how you guys would take it all in stride and say 'well we still have three wheels left, everyone lean this way.'
I told him that I saw it as being out on a sailboat and the boat tips over. Upside down a sailboat still looks like a sailboat, it only has an odd looking sail now. You never know when the boat your are traveling along in in life may turn over on you. I guess the key thing to remember is that no matter which direction the wind is blowing, with the proper set of the sail you can still make headway.
Since Papa J has gone home, I miss him greatly. I have no idea how to give advice to God on how to run the universe. I sometimes have trouble just making it through the day without making a mess of something. I hope to write on a regular basis in the vacancy left by dad. If you would like to reach me, Tim Meyer, you can e-mail me at TD4MISSION@aol.com. I look forward to any response you might have.
Your fellow servant in HIS service,
Tim![]()
