Short-term missions are a great way to have your eyes opened, your faith strengthened, and your soul refreshed! What could be more invigorating and life-changing than stepping out of your culture; your safety-zone to do something for Christ?
Every person I know that's who's gone on such a trip, has been changed by the experience. With that thought in mind, the July Edition of the Heavenly Top Ten is:
“Top Ten Reasons For Going On A Short Term Mission Trip”
- The police are closing in. — Again!
- Wife + long-awaited-renovations-plans + all-your-vacation = cya!
- You figure that a few weeks will take the edge off of your "student barber experiment"!
- Your recent stint as a VBS helper has made you interested in foreign cultures!
- Your neighbours have taken to all-night outdoor Macarena parties!
- You really want to see if Visa is recognized all around the world!
- After the fifty-sixth sermon from Deuternonomy, your congregation said they would gladly pay your way!
- You want to see if there's some remote part of the world who hasn't heard about "The Phantom Menace"! If there is, you will introduce yourself as Obi Wan!
- You'd hate to see the $19.95 you spent on the "Learn Swahili In Your Sleep" tapes go to waste!
- And the number one reason to go on
a short-term mission trip is: - You want to step out in faith and touch someone with the Good News of the Gospel!
The Heavenly Top Ten is intended to be a fun look at
issues of faith and fellowship. It should not be considered a serious treatment
of
any of the topics presented.
