No recently coined phrase makes me gag faster than "Politically Correct".
It's not that I'm insensitive to, or uncaring of, the feelings of others — it's just that political correctness is a good idea gone very bad. Why? Well, how can we possibly defend our faith without being offensive? God's Word confronts sin and injustice and it does it very effectively. So the only way we could refrain from being politically incorrect, would be to water down God's Word. Trust me, not a good idea!
Hopefully the June Edition of the Heavenly Top Ten will illustrate just how silly faith and political correctness look together as we investigate the:
“Top Ten Politically Correct
Terms For Sin”
- Mostly righteous on a good day
- Ethically non-enlightened
- Morally Dyslexic
- Good (if marked on a curve)
- Bearing a strong family resemblance (to Adam)
- Microsoft Perfection v. 1.0
- Gravitationally influenced (fallen)
- Motown Motivated ("Supremes"ly affected by all the "Temptations")
- Living by trial and error
- And the number one politically
correct term for sin is: - Beta holiness
The Heavenly Top Ten is intended to be a fun look at
issues of faith and fellowship. It should not be considered a serious treatment
of
any of the topics presented.
